Mesquite is a common name for a species of trees producing legumes. Found mainly in the southwestern United States and Mexico, these trees bloom in the spring and summer. The fruits produced by these trees are known as “pods.” These pods, when dried, can be ground into flour and made into bread. Wood from the Mesquite tree can also be cut into chunks and used for smoking meats and other foods. The real benefit of the Mesquite tree; however, are the flowering blooms in the spring and summer. In peak season, bees can be seen by the thousands collecting this delectable nectar. When this occurs, you know it won’t take long before this delicate delight becomes available.
Cold Creek Bee Company's Mesquite Honey is lightly floral and pleasantly mild. Hints of smoke.
